Collectors' Questions for Mattel via the Matchbox Ambassador

Postby The General » Thu Jan 08, 2015 5:08 am

Just thought we needed a centralised question thread for issues/questions we would like raised with Mattel concerning Matchbox via the Matchbox Ambassador.

.

My first question is one many collectors have asked over the years:

Does Mattel realise why they will sell 100 times as many of the bottom type of police car (including to parents and children) as they will the top type of police car?

My question is why are your toys so brightly coloured and not real looking unlike the likes of Majorette etc.

Your question is the same as mine.

Does Mattel not realise that they will actually sell more black and white realistic looking police cars than they will green ones with purple light bars that have MBX POLICE on the side?

99% of their target market is kids. If they would only realise that kids want the same as collectors. I remember as a kid in the 70's when they had the Cadillac and Benz ambulances. I loved them. I was so disappointed when they brought out the Stretcha Fetcha. Even as a kid I thought "this looks stupid". Do they think that the only way to appeal to kids is a black & pink striped fire engine with oversized wheels? Kids want red fire engines too you know?

I just don't know if this question has ever been raised directly with the Matchbox Team by one of our Ambassadors.

Are we going to see more station wagons in the line at any stage in the near future? At the moment we only have the Cadillac CTS. Would be nice to see an Asian or European wagon like the old Matchbox Audi RS6.
MAJORETTE..... this is how a 3inch diecast vehicle is made Mattel!

Good day to everyone. A Matchbox Question Tread.....this is an interesting idea. Not sure how this will go, but it's worth a try. I like the idea that questions are sent to me first and I get them answered. My thing that if a question is not a good one, someone might comment about it negatively. And I don't want anyone to be "put on the spot" as they say. So with that said, by all means post your questions even thought I would like them sent to me directly.

I understand your feelings regarding the generic Police vehicles. I would like to see only realistic models in the line, but that is not going to happen. I don't know about in your area but none of the generics we so avidly disapprove of are hanging on the pegs. They sell out just like the licensed models do. I'm not saying EVERY store is like this, but for the most part they do get bought up. And with the UPC Codes all being the same, there is no real way to judge what is selling and what is not. Having different UPC's for generics has been brought to Mattel's attention, maybe they should try it!

Ah ha. I was wondering where your questions came from. I couldn't see a question thread anywhere.
