Real v diecast

Postby dmet » Mon Feb 17, 2014 8:07 pm

I have always had an interest in the real vehicles in the range so wanted to start a real v diecast thread.
Here is the first, the Dennis Sabre.

This is a really cool thread. Great, original idea!

I will contribute myself with MB771 2009 Ford E-350 Ambulance.

Looking at the real version, the current Matchbox could use the smaller disk wheels for better proportions. Otherwise, spot-on.

Bloody hell Dave, I didn't know that Sabre's were on a N-Reg!

That really does show how old the casting is.

I do wonder why MB never did the FL10............that was the choice of the LFB for ages before the Atego now seems to be choice.

This was probably one of the first in preservation. Someone in Mattel didn't do their homework though because London didn't have any Sabres as far as I know preferring the Volvos. Oxford seem to be more on the ball now with their new releases. Thinking I may have to start looking at them as they have some very nice realistic models.

Here is another one, the Carmichael Range Rover. Never was sure why they did the police version unless someone has a picture?

Civilian version.

Different to the RAF one which is 4 door rather than 2 door.

I remember that there was one episode of The Professionals where the RS2000 comes creaming round the corner - with a fleet of ER vehicle in tow inc. the Carmichael.

I would to have seen that re-tooled as the RR...............always a wish at the time!
